U.S. Fencing Association Announces 2008 U.S.… USA Fencing April 26, 2008
Sada Molly Jacobson is the daughter of David and Tina Jacobson...She has two younger sisters, Emily Jacobson and Jackie Jacobson...Sada took home two medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, winning the silver medal in the women's individual sabre competion and a bronze medal in the team sabre competition...Sada and Emily were teammates at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece where Sada won an Olympic bronze medal in the women's individual saber competition...Her youngest sister Jackie also fences and her father David was a member of the 1974 U.S. Men's Saber National Team...Sada started fencing because the rest of her family participated in fencing...She decided to start going to fencing practice so that she could get her legs in shape for a hiking trip; after the hiking trip she kept coming back to fencing...Sada attended high school at The Westminster Schools from which she graduated in 2000...Received the Claire Haverty Ridley Award while in high school...Sada was a member of the school's varsity swimming team for two years while in high school...She went on to graduate from Yale University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History...She was a member of the Yale Varsity Fencing Team while in college in which time she won two NCAA Championship titles in women's saber (2001 and 2002)...Was honored in 2002 by the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame with the Marty Glickman Award...Made history in June 2003 when she won two World Cup competition in as row, becoming the first U.S. woman and second U.S. fencer to ever rank number one in the world...Since that time, it has become common to see the U.S. women ranked at the top of the world ranking.
